Jacob Thobejane

Program Coordinator: Master Maths

What I do

Hi!! My name is Jacob Thobejane, responsible for the Master Maths programme at the Palabora Foundation (Leboneng Centre). This is a school support computer-engineered programme intended to uplift the standard and learner performance in Mathematics in the schools around Greater Phalaborwa. This expensive franchise programme is offered to learners from all walks of life (primarily grades 8-12) at comparatively no cost as we are a non-profit making organization, our mission being to uplift the standard of life of the previously disadvantaged and marginalized groups.

I joined Palabora Foundation on the 1st April 2005.

What I did before

1991-2000: I was a Maths lecturer at Mapulaneng College of Education.

2001-2003: I was a Maths Subject Advisor in the former Phalaborwa District (DoE).

2004-2005.03.31: I was a Maths Subject Advisor in the then Bohlabela District (DoE).

A bit about me

I was born and bred in a small village (called Madeira) at ga-Sekororo (Trichardtsdal) in the year 1966. I’m a father of three children, one boy and two girls.

I completed my matric in 1986 at Seagotle High School (ga-Sekororo). I then went to University of Limpopo in 1987 where I completed my B.SC.Ed degree in 1990. In 1996 I completed my B.Ed degree (Curriculum Theory & Development) with UNISA.

If there is anything I like most in my life, besides staying in and going out with my family, it's having fun with my Maths class, showing them how things labelled as ‘difficult’ could be turned into simplicities. My other hobbies are watching TV and cruising in the parks enjoying nature.

I couldn't live without...

... church, for I’m able to do all things through Christ who gives me my daily strength.
