Brutus Raganya
Programme Coordinator: Senior Phase and Further Education and Training (FET – General)
What I do
I’m responsible for educators' and learners' development in Mathematics (Senior Phase) and Mathematical Literacy in the FET. My role is to conduct teacher training workshops and school support regarding the implementation of National Curriculum Statement (NCS) focusing on Maths and Maths Literacy.
During school visits, I help educators with planning and demonstration of lessons according to the way NCS needs to be done, i.e. planning and designing your lesson, looking at the environment where learning is going to take place (context). I sometimes assist in training with the Department of Education officials at Provincial level.
As an active and registered member of Amesa, I’m responsible for making sure that both educators and learners participate in Amesa activities which include the Maths Olympiad, Camps and Conferences.
Since joining Foundation, I completed Assessor and Facilitation courses with ETDP - SETA. I always form part of Science Expo judges. I joined Foundation in 2001 as a school support officer for Mahlahle Project in Giyani.
What I did before
From 1994-1995, I taught as Mathematics educator in Mantšubile and Calais secondary schools before I joined Metsimatle secondary from 1996 to 1999.
