What I do

I am responsible for maintaining the Foundation's computer networks, hardware and software, helpdesk and general assistance.

I've been working for the Foundation since February 2006.

What I did before

I obtained a Web Development Diploma with distinction from CTI consisting mainly of Server Side Scripting, programming and relational database design with some web design and networking concepts included. This was mainly to find temporary work, possibly as a developer, which would pay for my university degree studies, which I’m currently busy with. I’m currently studying for my BSc with specialisation in Information Systems and Technology through UNISA. So far, so good.

I’ve held some miscellaneous IT jobs throughout my school and college years, mainly as a technician, and became employed as a technician for IBASA at the Nan Hua Buddhist Temple in Gauteng in 2003 on a permanent basis, where within a few weeks I was appointed the network administrator and webmaster, and assisted with teaching computer concepts.

I resigned from IBASA after more than 2 years of service and took a job with Support Services where I was based with Foundation as part of the Foundation’s outsourcing of IT tasks. I later moved to the Foundation on a permanent basis and left Support Services. I passed up a Developer/Programming position to work for Foundation.

A bit about me

I’m an easy-going and patient person (I’ve been told) without too many hang-ups. I get along with almost anyone, however initially I come across as shy. I love learning, hiking, nature and reading. By learning I don’t necessarily mean studying, but rather anything of interest and intellectual value. I hate the TV (except the History channel), although I love a good movie. I have a very spontaneous nature. I dislike not knowing something and wouldn’t be able to get by without a dictionary, an encyclopaedia or the Internet (with sites like Wikipedia).
