PROTEC & Master Maths are high school learner support programmes provided by the Palabora Foundation for the benefit of the communities around Phalaborwa. The purpose of the programme is to improve the Mathematics and Science standards of the school going students so that they can get good results at the Grade 12 (Matric) examinations which will qualify them for University entries and study bursaries.
The ultimate aim of the programme is to increase the high level human resource pool required for the running of the mines and other industries in Phalaborwa and South Africa. These programmes have produced over 300 engineers, Geologists, Technicians, IT specialists, Artisans and medical doctors over five years.
