What I do

I am the programme head of Educator Development and School Governing Bodies capacity building programmes and manager of Leboneng Education Centre of the Palabora Foundation.

My leadership skills as section head have been strengthened by my involvement in various roles both internally and externally. I am the current National President of the Association for Mathematics education of South Africa (AMESA) and member of the board of the South African Mathematics Foundation (SAMF). I became the editor of AMESA News (2004 – 2006), the association’s official communication news letter.

What I did before

I obtained my junior degree (majoring in applied mathematics) and Higher Education Diploma (HED), at University of the North (now University of Limpopo) in 1988. My first job was in 1989 as a teacher at Mohlakaneng High School, where I taught mathematics. In 1990 I was appointed junior lecturer at Dr. CN Phatudi College of Education where I taught mathematics to pre-service secondary teachers. In 1994 I was appointed lecturer at Mokopane College of Education where I taught mathematics education to pre-service primary teachers and mathematics to senior secondary pre-service teachers.

Guided by my passion for development, in June 1997, I accepted a job at Palabora Foundation, to provide in-service training to mathematics teachers in Phalaborwa and the surrounding rural areas (Makhushane, Maseke, Selwane, Mashishimale, Namakgale and Lulekani). I also trained teachers in far away areas such as Polokwane, Vuwani near Louistrichardt, Apel in Sekhukhune, Ellisras, Giyani and Hazyview, when the Foundation won tenders of training teachers in Limpopo in partnership with PROTEC and MOLTENO.

The passion and sacrifices of traveling the province wide came to fruition five years later, when I was promoted to be section head in 2002 in charge of teacher development and school governance.

I have occasionally acted as the head of the Foundation while top management was out of the office on business for a day or two. I was members’ representative in the Committee of Management of the R.T.Z (South Africa) Pension Fund until 2001.

My most outstanding personal assets are energy and reputation, always ready to do delegated jobs and respected by fellow employees and community.

A bit about me

My behavior both on and off the workplace is highly influenced by my Christian faith, which taught me loyalty and honesty. These principles coupled with my energy, ability and reputation are a driving force behind my success in everything I do.
