FNB & Anglo Coal take two PROTEC students
2006-11-15
The PROTEC students are in high demand all over South Africa. Recently two PROTEC students went to Polokwane for bursary interviews and they were both successful. They are Daniel Raganya and Margaret Shai. Daniel attends PROTEC lessons at the Palabora Foundation’s Rixile Education Centre in Lulekani whereas Margaret is at the Leboneng Education Centre in Namakgale. They are both passionate about the PROTEC and Master Maths lessons which ultimately helped them to make their dreams a reality.
The PROTEC Programme in Phalaborwa is sponsored by the three major companies in town namely the Palabora Mining Company, Foskor and Sasol Nitro. The other sponsors are Lepelle Northern Water, Ba-Phalaborwa Municipality, Standard Bank, Professional Career Consultants, The Phalaborwa Chamber of Business and the Department of Education. The PROTEC and Master Maths Programmes are headed by Mr C K Joseph.
Tertiary education has always been a financial uphill for most of the parents. For an engineering degree which normally takes four years to complete, one must have about R45 000 every year as tuition and boarding fees. So getting a full bursary is like winning a lottery. Your fees will be paid off besides a guaranteed job offer upon successful completion of your studies. What more can you ask for? You need to sign a contract with the bursary provider and work hard and pass. That is all! But watch out, because, engineering is one of the study fields with the highest drop-out rates.
We wish Margaret and Daniel a successful tertiary education with the aid of the First National Bank and Anglo Coal.
